St Vincent de Paul Society
This is one of the oldest student societies in Queen’s. Founded in 1914, this local conference of the St. Vincent de Paul Society is most appropriate for Queen’s, as it was founded in the University of Paris by Blessed Frederic Ozunar, with its students responding to an anti-clerical challenge that Catholics should put their faith into practice. From a small student beginning, it has grown into a worldwide charity. In Queen’s, the St Vincent de Paul members visit the elderly and sick, they help children with educational difficulties and respond to a variety of calls for help. The weekly meeting takes place in the First Floor Lounge at 1.30pm on Wednesdays. New members always welcome.
